DU Community Help
Related: About this forumHello -- this is in reference to LONG hyperlinks
Long links in posts now break correctly and consistently, so posts can contain full-length hyperlinks and pages won't get deformed if someone accidentally pastes a URL into their subject line.
I just posted something with a long line that didnt include the wrapped text on the 2nd line. Is something broke?

(1,049 posts)and noticed there was a method to add a link by manually inputting the command. I went today to use that command and the instructions had been updated. Since I read somewhere that EarlG was updating DU with new coding I just figured something got missed.
Its NOT an issue I need resolved for my post as anybody should be able to find the link on their own, just figured Id bring it to your attention.

(3,591 posts)Maybe try tiny url. It makes a shortened version of the link. I dont have the site pulled up now but you can just search for it.

(22,540 posts)When posting on DU, most characters are allowed in links, but some are disallowed for security reasons. I think the problem here might be the parentheses characters which are relatively uncommon in links, although I know Wikipedia uses them. If you post a link with a parenthesis on DU, the link will break at that character.
Interestingly, those Wikipedia links seem to work anyway without needing the full link to be posted.
