My star ends 8/16

Nice DUers want to gift me a star. Are they allowed to do that, or can stars be gifted only at certain times? Does the gifter have to have a star, which is fine. I think thetes confusion on how to give a star.

1. As far as I know there is no easy way to give a star & I've requested that the admins fix that

as I see a lot of posts asking how to give someone a star. As far as I know you have to mail a check to give someone a star.

3. Hello

The only time of year that members can give Star Memberships to other members is during the Summer Fund Drive, which is due to start in one week's time, on the evening of August 18.

During the week of the Summer Fund Drive, members who contribute $35 or more can gift a free one year Star Membership to another member of their choice (provided that the recipient has more than 100 posts). The contributing member also has the option to receive a DU bumper sticker.

I will donate to someone. Can we just donate and put a note to have it go to someone who has asked for it/needs it? How will we know who needs the donation without giving a list of names? (I hope that made sense.)
