June 28th, 2024 user account creation dates! MIRT needs to know

MIRT. I have seen dozens of low post count usernames concern trolling or generally posting negative things, checking their profile over and over I see June 28th, 2024 join dates.

It's obvious a bot created a bunch of user accounts on June 28th and trolls are using them to depress DU. The content they're posting is consistently negative.

4. I agree in principle

But DU is under attack from an organized group that used a bot to create usernames all on the same date. I would hope a review of names created on that date could be done.

But yeah, Dems are on fire right now and the Right doesn't even know where to start yet.

This is a group of really sharp, on-the-ball members who keep an eye out for these trolls. They have most likely already seen the pattern that you saw, but if they haven't, then you've alerted them!

I was on that team for a bit and had forgotten. I've alerted on many posts the last few weeks and almost every one had a user name creation date of 6/28/24. Pretty obvious to me what happened.

I'm not a bot. I was a long-time lurker and joined shortly after I couldn't get on after the Biden-Trump debate.

Welcome to DU. You coincidentally joined on the same date a bot likely made several dozen user names that trolls are picking from to concern troll here.

I'm not asking for anyone to be banned based on username creation date, just alerting the MIRT group to a potential issue. It's at least 15 concern troll posts I've seen in a few weeks that all had the same creation dates for their usernames.

Maybe there's a batching of username cration dates by the DU admins, but I didn't think it was like that when I joined years ago.

10. This might be interesting to you - this is a list of people who have posted for the first time

I found this on the Latest Discussions page on the right side is a box "Welcome to DU Say hello to these new members who just posted for the first time" and then it lists 5 names and then a "More...". I clicked More
