Was using the Day/Nite mode, but switched back to Day after the night color scheme was unreadable on my iPhone. (Original Post) ificandream Jan 2024 OP

My iPad suddenly glitched out in Night mode, but my desktop computer was ok. I’ve been refreshing, logging out and back in, restarted the tablet, but nothing helped until I just now switched to Day mode.

On a laptop or whatever they're called now, I had opened a reply and the page would load and then all the text would disappear. I had a couple tabs open so I tried other pages only to have the same happen. When that happens I have discovered that you can find the live links by moving your cursor around to find your way out, like jury duty.

So I discovered that the problem was that I had the night mode on while also using an extension for night mode for elsewhere on the web. I managed to find my settings page and turn off the night mode there and everything works properly now, in fact better with the extension applying the night mode. I think the two apps had conflicting code somewhere that caused one to overpower the other.

That's the fix that I found.

and got display. Kind of hate it. Too bright for me, but all text was unreadable in night mode.

I thought it was me because I had just run a maintenance action that I though might have killed it.

Dark mode is working on my Android devices and Chromebook.

It is not working on my Windows desktop (tried using Chrome, Firefox, and Opera). I can read DU when I log out (no dark mode). When I log in, it's unreadable (see pic). Cleared cookies and cache, disabled antimalware and extensions. No go. I haven't tried turning off DU dark mode, but I will. (

ETA: Turning off dark mode in DU settings works. It's a good thing I have the DarkReader plugin.)
