Related: About this forumIs there a way to make it so videos do not show up in Latest Discussions
The Latest Discussions has gotten to about 2/3 just links to videos ..There is a Video section.

(5,812 posts)So often, the video is meaningless. The exception appears to be ones about rescued animals. Those are worth their weight in gold.
Think. Again.
(17,922 posts)....a listing of all newly posted material in any of the forums or 'sections'?
That would include any new videos posted in the Videos Section, wouldn't it?

(50,894 posts)Are you proposing to block any post that has a video anywhere in it? Any OP with a video? Even OPs with a skippable video and six paragraphs of well written text?
Do you mean the "Latest" tab that goes to a page headed "Latest Discussions"? All the posts shown there are categorized. If the posts are primarily video, they will show up labelled there as to the forum which would be Liberal Youtubers or Cable News Clips or Music Appreciation or Netflix Streaming Videos DVDs. Easy to avoid. It's a problem?
Do you mean General Discussion? It's its own forum so video-centric posts are not labelled, but should be.
I'm not seeing and have not seen a 2/3 ratio in either place. There is no "Video section" { on edit: there is the tab}, but there are the four (or more?) forums I mentioned.
Other posts / OPs should have some discussion first, and maybe a video to explain or provide context to a point. So that the video can be skipped.
All video posts should have an explanation of why someone should spend time looking at the video. I and many other people do not have time to look at a dozen videos for a minute each to decide if they want to spend ten minutes each watching the rest of them. I can pop into and skim a dozen OPs in a minute. Not so with videos. I can read an article three times faster than I can watch the equivalent words being read in a video. Plus most videos have a lot of "Hi, thanks for watching, isn't it great that you are here, donate to my patreon, the weather is great here today, I'm so excited to bring you this news, you'll love it, blah blah blah....".

(10,777 posts)Skip it if you dont like to watch. The blue square is for posts with tweets. Some tweets have videos itll have both squares red and blue.
Id rather read the news if I wanted videos Id watch TV. Posters should give a synopsis of the video so we could see if it interests us also. Most people dont sit all day online, watching a video for 3-4 minutes before the point is even mentioned takes huge chunks of the day to waste.
My opinion only. Thats why I love the squares its like a warning.

(50,894 posts)Not seeing any red or blue squares. I do see the little x box for trashing the thread. I haven't enabled those squares. Going to give it a try.
I'm back. It works.

(92,665 posts)Each title indicates whether there is video or xitter links in the OP by way of a little blue or red box at the end of the title. I skip most of the xitter kink OPs but many of the utoob videos are something I might want to see, if so, I look at the OP, if there's no description or I can't tell what it's about, I skip that too.
You can see, I would think, the little red and blue indicators to know which OPs have video links on those platforms.

(4,824 posts)... that will remove a lot of them from the Latest Discussion feed. (Go to the individual forum and click 'trash forum' on the top bar.)
Also, there isn't a Video forum per se these days. The topside video tab seems to aggregate new discussion posts with videos in them from the various groups.

(16,245 posts)In some forums, I'd expect and appreciate seeing a lot of video posts. "Music Appreciation" comes to mind, but there are several others.
In other forums, especially ones where I'd expect to see hard news, videos of someone I don't know pontificating over some kernel of news are just chaff, to me.
With regard to your your question, "Trashing" a forum will prevent its posts from appearing in "Latest", but that's a very blunt solution. That's what I've done with the two video forums, and it helps, but it's far from an ideal solution

(22,540 posts)If you go to each of these forums and click the "Trash forum" button at the top right, it won't eliminate every video from the Latest page, but you will likely experience a significant reduction in videos.
