Request for DU4 features

On DU3 I lived on the Greatest page - it was the page that opened when I opened my browser.

On DU4 I can get to the Greatest Discussion page from the home page and by clicking on Navigate and it. However, once I've clicked on a post there is no way to get back to the Greatest page except by hitting the back button. If I comment on a post I can't even use the back button.

I'd like to request 2 things - 1) An easier way to get back to the Greatest Discussion page from pages other than the Home page and 2) a setting option to which allows me to make the default view of that page most recent instead of most recommended (I liked having those two side by side with equal weight to each view but, since I know going back to that isn't an option, I'd like to set it closer to my preference than the current setting).

From the Home page I can go to Greatest Discussions. If I'm in Greatest Discussions and I click on a post, there is no way to go back to Greatest Discussions. The breadcrumbs direct me to the home forum of the post I clicked on, not back to Greatest Discussions. There is no subscribe button to the Greatest Discussions page (it is not a forum) so I can't add it to my sidebar (which doesn't help me on my phone). If I am anywhere other than the Home page and Latest Discussions (which has a related link to Greatest Discussions) I have to click twice to get to the Greatest Discussions.

I can get to Latest Breaking News, General Discussion, The DU Lounge, and the forums I subscribe to with a single click from anywhere in DU4 using the left sidebar - but not Greatest Discussions. I used to be able to go straight from any post to Greatest Discussions by clicking on the link to Greatest Discussions. I'd like that feature back.

If there is a way to show Greatest Discussions in the left side bar I have not been able to find it.

Wouldn't the simplest solution be to go to Greatest Discussions, click on a thread, and then click your browser's back button to go back to the Greatest Discussions page?

Otherwise, the way to get there is simply via Navigate > Greatest Discussions. You can click the Navigate button from anywhere. If you're using Default Mode, the Navigate button is pinned to the top of the screen so you can reach it easily.

if you had the DU3 Greatest page bookmarked in your browser, the same bookmark will take you to the same page on DU4. So your browser homepage should persist with the DU4 Greatest Discussions page. If that's not happening, please let me know.

I need a bit more information about the "back" button issue. Can you tell me exactly what happens when you try to use the "back" button to get back to the Greatest Page, after clicking through to a thread? Is the "back" button simply unavailable -- greyed out in your browser? Can you click it, but nothing happens? Are you taken back, but get an error page? Or something else? Please let me know and I should be able to help with this, or at least give you some more info.

For your requests:

1) You can reach the Greatest page from anywhere on the site by simply clicking Navigate > Greatest Discussions. You do not need to be on the home page to do this.

2) At the moment, the page will always default to "Most rec'd" whenever you go to it. If you change that setting ( to, say, "Most recent" ) it is technically possible for the browser to remember it, so that you always have that view when you return to the page. However, Elad and I had a debate over this and ultimately we decided not to have the browser remember your decision, although off the top of my head I can't remember if it was for technical reasons or something else. That said, I agree that it would be cool for people to be able to set "Most recent" as their preferred view, if that's what they want to see. I'll go over this again with Elad and see if we can come up with a solution.

Admittedly, I haven't tested this with DU4 but I don't see any reason why it would be different. If I post a comment on a thread, I have to click back three times to get to the Greatest page (back goes to my unsubmitted comment, to the post, then finally to Greatest).

It is still where DU opens - that part of my comment was badly worded and descriptive, not a request or critique. I have it set as one of the pages when I open my browser - I may see if I can change it to open to most recent.

I know also that I can get to the Greatest page with two clicks (i.e., Navigate - Greatest or Home - Greatest). My ask is to not have to do that (i.e., let me access it with a single click). If you want to retain the minimalist look by not having a lot of direct links then can you make the Greatest page one that I can subscribe to? At least then I'll have a direct link in the left side bar.
