The header/navigation bar is pinned to the top of the page so the logo never disappears. This means I can no longer use DU as a news agragate at work. 😞 Im a librarian and can read news while on the public desk because its easy to be interrupted while doing, and all news informs collection development. But I cant have overtly politically biased images on the screen at all times. The name of the site pinned at the top of the page as I scroll down to read the story means Ill never be able to read DU at work again.

(21 posts)For me it's just that it takes up a decent chunk at the top of my phone, and DU3 never had this pinned that I'm aware of. I can switch to skinner mode to get rid of it, but I actually like the rest of DU4.
Can we have an option to un-pin?

(22,540 posts)you're not the first person to ask for this.
It should be quite straightforward for us to create an Account Settings option to "unpin" the menu bar from the top of the page. Unfortunately we do have a pretty long list of priorities at the moment while we stabilize and make fixes to the new version, but I'll add this to the list and we'll be able to include it.
If enough people are interested, then an entire "Discreet Mode" might be a cool option to have, something that tweaks and hides certain site elements to give the site a more "neutral" appearance. It would take a lot longer to develop than just unpinning the menu bar, but could be useful for some people who visit DU. Anyway I'm just thinking aloud here, I'll have to give it some thought... anyone who might be interested in such a mode should let me know what they would like it to include (or perhaps I should say exclude).

The titles are not wrapping on the phone.

(22,540 posts)A few other people have reported this -- everyone who has reported it so far is a regular (non-Star) member, so I think this problem is being caused by an oversized ad placement which is stretching the page too far to the right. This is dragging the titles off the side of the page.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce the problem yet so I don't know which placement is causing it. I'm still looking into this.
