Regarding notifications.

I'm getting pop-ups from DU asking me to turn on notifications - I just dismiss it. I can't count how many notifications I get from how many apps already, it's too much.

But when it comes to DU, I would adore being able to follow certain people and would even embrace being notified when they had a new post up.

Will this ever happen? If it already has, how do I take part? lol

1. This feature will be available on DU4

As you can subscribe to forums on DU3, you will be able to subscribe to members on DU4. So you can be notified when your favorite DUers start a new thread.

This is not the same as the browser notifications you mentioned -- those are something we're trying out, to let people know about interesting threads that are going on during the day. We only send out 3-5 of those per day.

When will DU4 be ready? Unfortunately the Ninety-Ninety Rule is in full effect at the moment:

The ninety-ninety rule is a humorous aphorism that states: "The first 90 percent of the code accounts for the first 90 percent of the development time. The remaining 10 percent of the code accounts for the other 90 percent of the development time."

I'd say we're 95% of the way there...

3. Actually that's one thing we never had

It's never been possible for people to subscribe to other people on DU, although it's a feature we've wanted for a long time.

4. i thought i had a list

it didn't include notifications maybe, but i could click on their name...I don't know, this was a long time ago. Fact is I don't remember all the screen names. Looking forward to DU4
