Question about the name change.

I saw where EarlG said the sig line would indicate the change of name for 30 days, which is helpful. But how about on the profile? Does anyone know? I don’t know very many people here by name, but some I do know seem to have disappeared. Recently, I saw a profile where the poster no longer had the sig line, but the profile had the ‘this is the poster formerly known as’ thing.

Will that stay on indefinitely? Does anyone know?

1. We decided to keep it on the profile

It probably won't have the yellow background forever -- we'll fit it in with the rest of the info so it doesn't stand out as much -- but we thought it made sense to have a method for allowing people to know a member's previous username (if applicable).

4. Will old posts be updated with the new username or retain the previous name?

I know during the last name change, all prior posts (a few exceptions) updated with the new username. Currently, anyone can search my name and my posts before my name change are accessible as well (well, the ones not lost in the hack).

That's just the way it got programmed this time around (the last time we did a name change was on a previous version of the software, so the name change function had to be rebuilt from the ground up).

I was getting a little concerned that I wouldn't have them all familiarized before they discontinued showing up in the sig line!
