I need help uploading avatar images, please

I tried a site search because I am sure I’m not the first to ask, but didn’t get the results needed.

Every time I try to upload a custom avatar, I get an error message about the file being too big. I’ve clipped, resized, reshaped, and done everything I can think of to get it smaller, but no dice.

I’m on an iPad, trying to load from my Camera Roll. I’d rather not download an avatar making app, if possible. I don’t have a regular computer.

Any advice is appreciated.

2. Unfortunately

you can't upload an avatar from your iPad, which is why you're getting an error message. I'm guessing that the error message is wrong because the avatar upload function was built a very long time ago, so it doesn't understand how to interface with an iPad, and spits out the "File too big" error because it doesn't know what else to do.

In order to upload an avatar you have to do it from a desktop or laptop computer. Sorry about that. This is something I need to add to my long list of fixes and improvements.

Now I don’t feel like such an incompetent boob, lol! I was getting a little concerned with my inability to figure it out.

I’ll just do it from a desktop next time I visit my parents.

4. Can a person upload a custom avatar without being a star member?

I intend to become a star member, but I’m not as yet.

5. Non-Star Members can only choose from the preset avatars

Custom avatar upload is one of the bonuses you get for being a Star Member.
