Venmo is a mobile payment service owned by PayPal. It allows users to transfer money to one another (within the U.S. only) using a mobile phone app or web interface. It handled 17.6 billion dollars in transactions in 2016.[1] In Q1 of 2017, it handled 6.8 billion dollars in transactions, which more than doubled its volume in Q1 of 2016.

Same thing different name it seems.

Read yesterday that PayPal will no longer be used on ebay.com soon. Now what?

only by going offsite:
Why eBay abandoned PayPal for a smaller European competitor

EBay will continue to let customers use PayPal as an option for checking out until July 2023, but most of eBay's payments will be processed by Adyen by 2021.

Peter Thiel is a managing partner at Founders Fund, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm investing in companies building revolutionary technologies. He co-founded PayPal with Max Levchin and Elon Musk, and served as CEO until it was sold to eBay in 2002.

The above article suggests he no longer has an "affiliation"; whether that also means no investment is unclear to me.
