Hi to all of you. I've actually had an account here since Oct 2012, but just hung around seeing what all of you had to say. I get a lot of pleasure here reading and listening to you voice what I'm feeling and thinking, but don't have a lot of people around me who think like I do (I live in NC). I'm a retired, white 68-year-old grandma who voted for Obama both times. I just couldn't hold it in any longer, had to come out of the shadows and say Go Bernie! (and say thank you to all my friends here at DU!)

Recently I went to Black Mountain to the "honk and wave" event. A lady, probably in her 50s? said, "I went to a Bernie rally. I felt like I was 16 and he was Elvis Presley." I couldn't help laughing. He isn't Elvis to me, but he's the real deal.

9. Black Mountain, NC??

One of my favorite places! My grandmother retired to Highland Farms in Black Mountain and I visited her often, spent a lot of time there. I liked it so much that I even thought of relocating, LOL. It's beautiful country and the folks I got to know there were great, too. It's a vibrant community, always something going on, and I'm not surprised that it's Bernie country! Welcome to DU! So glad you decided to join us!
