(38,974 posts)I'm not sure I know what DU is "supposed" to look like. I use Linux, and either the Opera or Chrome web browsers. First off I've never installed (or else I have deleted) fonts I don't like. I've also disabled any automatic download of them, so I don't see them on any web sites.
In the "My Account" section of DU you can force "mobile," "classic," or "standard" view. Otherwise you will get "mobile" view on most mobile devices, and "standard" view on desktops and laptops. Sometimes the software doesn't guess correctly. I select "classic" view for both.
Most importantly, for me anyways, is the size of the font. In Chrome or Opera I set "zoom" at 125% or 150% for DU depending upon the machine. The browser remembers that, so I only have to do it once.
It is also possible to force your own style sheets onto any web site, but that's probably getting a bit obsessive. Apparently Chrome used to let you do that but now you have to download various accessories from the Chrome Store. There are ways of doing that in other browsers too.
My own browsers are generally set up in quirky ways to annihilate irritating distractions like moving advertisements. Javascript is enabled for only a few sites I regularly visit, such as DU.
If I go to a new site and get nothing, zero content but for an obnoxious message saying that I need to enable cookies and javascript, I figure the site wasn't worth visiting anyways.

(10,136 posts)To change the font type, say Verdana to TimesRoman, you would need to look into the accessibility options for your browser.
