Happy New Year to all

Thought I'd drop in for a brief intro to be neighborly...

I am a longtime reader of DU news items who lives in the Capital Region of NY, close to where the action is. I first volunteered for Senator Barack Obama in Iowa in 2007 and then trained to be an organizer for the campaign in the summer of 2008. My family and I watched his acceptance speech in Grant Park on 2 November 2008.

It has been a real education in civics to observe the Obama presidency for the last two terms. If it were possible, I am certain he would easily win a third term in this present field.

I recently changed my mind on who I support in 2016 but I hope to avoid food fights and contribute a little to an informed audience of mostly likeminded peers.

Happy New Year from a New Yawker!

them being flakes then refused to work for that campaign again.

The final straw for me was the woman that insisted we take her car even though I wanted to take my own, and then she drove us several miles to an area I didn't know and when we separated to collect voter registrations and agreed to meet at the end of the block, I watched her put down hers after only a few houses, go to her car and drive away. She quit the campaign because she was too cold and told the office she thought I would want to keep going so left me to. I couldn't get anyone from the campaign to pick me up - they kept saying they were trying to find someone - they never did. I didn't have money for a cab, and 4 hours later when I finally made it back to my car, freezing, saturday blown.

The first twp times were waiting outside the campaign office for 2 hours in the freezing cold that started at something like 5am and the person, when they finally called back my cell said they forgot they were supposed me meet me there then asked if I could come back at 3pm. this is after calling me the night before and insisting they needed me to help and be there at 5am, both times. They had no respect for people or their time. I won't volunteer for any campaign now.
