Well, I tried, but I think I failed.

I wrote an OP explaining the so called word war on DU, but I think only "the choir" may have read it. I was hoping to have a conversation with those who disagree with me on the subject, but I had no takers. What did I do wrong?

Here is the thread if you're curious: http://www.democraticunderground.com/124088525

Some of the other threads on the same topic have generated lots of discussion. Was my approach off? Do my arguments seem like "word salad?"

Harmony has to start somewhere, the problem is that everyone disagrees with where and how.

You didn't follow proper H&M procedure for having a long-lived thread.

It's probably too late to go back and edit, but for future reference, here are a few things that can help you next time:

-Don't be reasonable, coherent, and use multisyllabic words.
-Dedicate at least three sentences to MineralMan.
-Include a jury result where the jury voted to leave an amazingly racist, sexist, etc. post.
-Complain about being censored.

If you follow these suggestions, you'll get a heated "discussion" in no time.

I think that's where the problem lays. You didn't make any demands, you were reasonable about your position.

Maybe next time, throw in something about everyone going vegan--that seems to stir up folks
