Could we PLEASE stop referring to Meryl Streep as an "actress?"

The perpetuation of "feminine" endings on nouns that should apply equally to everyone perpetuates the qualification of women's inclusion in such nouns.

"It's not how gracefully the bear dances, but that it dances at all."

Like Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sean Penn, Edward G. Robinson, Greta Garbo, and thousands more, Meryl Streep is an actor.

A great one.

wearily,
Bright

as a strong woman who calmly spoke TRUTH to power. She is in good company with Charlotte Church and all the rest of you strong women who post here at DU.

BTW I do like Ms Streep's films a lot, but to categorize her as an actor is to diminish what you had to say, and to use the word actress is just further down the same rat hole.
