A self-described political refugee of a western province that U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert hopes will break off from Pakistan says his homeland is eager for help toward that end.
Gohmert, R-Tyler, and other House Republicans are offering a resolution supporting self-determination for the Baloch Province. Gohmert says the once-independent state on Pakistans western edge is a doorway for arms flowing to the Taliban fighting American forces in Afghanistan.
A free Balochistan, as the would-be country is called, would be a grateful and well-positioned ally in the region as U.S. forces withdraw under a late-2013 timetable, Gohmert said Wednesday.
Ahmar Mustikhan, who says he fled Pakistani violence against his countrymen in 2000, lives in the Washington, D.C., area and has advocated Baloch independence since arriving here. He is a journalist, writing often in the online examiner.com and speaking at conferences held by supporters of Balochistan.

(116,798 posts)I looked for an Asia group before posting, but didn't see it listed on the forums & groups tab or on the left-column folders. Therefore, I posted in the group that was closest geographically.
Since this may be of interest to some, I'll repost the article in that group. Thanks again.
