ALBANY -- About 20 Occupy the Farm protesters were rousted early Monday by University of California Berkeley police at the Gill Tract in Albany and told to leave or they would be arrested.
One activist was arrested in the 4 a.m. sweep, on charges of trespassing and resisting arrest after he refused to leave, according to KGO.
Over the weekend, more than 100 marched at the UC land near Marin and San Pablo avenues to protest plans to build a grocery store, planting crops that they plan to tend in the future.
On Monday morning, police allowed protesters, two at a time to retrieve tents, seedlings not yet planted, water barrels and farming equipment. Most were off the property and onto the sidewalk by 7 a.m.
