Related: About this forumAmazing How Many Dems Don't Understand Why Trump Will Win
I know this post will probably be hidden because I will be telling it straight. Many people support Trump even though they don't like him, because "he isn't corrupt" they tell me (when I ask). Think about it. Everyone with a working brain understands our government works for the wealthy, and the corporations they own. There is a lot of distraction, but this is a simple fact that is undeniable. I can provide more links than you can imagine.
Half the people who can vote don't because they feel both parties are corrupt and it doesn't make a difference. We here know it makes a difference, but it would be great if the people who want government to work for them instead of the 1% actually voted for DEMOCRATS. Ain't gonna happen. The Republican Trump supporters will never vote for any Democrat, but they are only 15% of the population. The other 85% will vote for whoever they think will fix their major problems. When they see no one taking on the wealthy and powerful, and actually fixing THE REAL PROBLEM / A CORRUPT GOVERNMENT they are willing to entertain the idea of voting for the candidate that is calling our candidate corrupt.
Michael Moore understands. Do you?

I am really tired of watching a corrupt government pass pro-corporate legislation (errrr...like TPP...soon) while we are expected to work harder for less every day, while our owners pile more money in their offshore accounts un-taxed. So is the 50% of Americans who have given up on our government. I will vote like a madman for Democrats, even though......
I can't say it without being banned.
Trump will win because of the corruption in our party.
Sorry. You will never hear that on CNN, MSNBC, or FOX. Their owners benefit from the corruption, and the gravy train must roll on. It's like the "losing" candidate's message went right by "the party" so they can continue business as usual. Millions are sick of business as usual, and would rather have a madman in the White House who will blow it all up than continue watching a corrupt government in action.
I am 100% serious.
Now when will "my" party start taking on the real problem America faces? Our worst problem. Our corruption...... I won't hold my breath.

(6,568 posts)It's but a tiny speck compared to the corruption in the Republican party.
Michael Moore is a hack, and is rarely right about things. His documentaries are very one-sided and overblown.

(45,561 posts)The mainstream GE voters that voted for Obama over Palin are not going to vote for Palin in a Chinese manufactured suit from the Trump collection.
Many of them will crawl over broken glass to keep him out. Our job to get the rest of them to the polls.
I respectfully ask you to step back from the Parties are all the Same rhetoric as again mainstream GE voters know better.
You can stick your fingers in your ears and refuse to listen the positive message and excellent platform the Dems have this year, and wallow in the false "Satanic Dems" 'memes' created by shallow binary-stinking ideologues and deranged tea-baggers if it makes you feel better. However none of that is reality, it is a fiction not supported by reality.
Enjoyed your post, have a good day

(819 posts)We do not have a voting system in place that can't be hacked. The top candidates were hand picked by the true ruling class. It is an interactive game where we get the illusion we have control, but it has been predecided.

(6,890 posts)And I think you are correct, the theme for this election is government corruption and the great unwashed finally getting some sense that the "establishment" and "the powers that be" have rigged the game in their favor at the expense of those of us that live in the bottom 95% of the American economy.
IT'S THE CORRUPTION ENDEMIC IN ALL OF OUR GOVERNMENT, DUMMY!
Those of us with decent critical thinking skills fully understand that Drumpf will make things much worse and accelerate worldwide human misery somewhat less than the run up to WW2, but still much worse than perhaps even the recent Great Recession. And he's got the best chance since Roe v. Wade to overturn a woman's right to choose. Evangelicals are rabid anti-abortion and boy do they vote. Even to the point of electing a morally bankrupt slimeball if he sounds like an earnest pro-birther.
So the relative merits of our choice is clear; Drumpf would make things much much worse and his entire career is based on the art of the swindle. Why the hell anybody would find a mentally ill sociopathic bully-swindler to be Presidential material is incomprehensible to me. But, I do think he's tapped into the same zone as Bernie, as far as fixing the magnitude of outright corruption cancerizing our government.
Apparently, to paraphrase Frank Zappa, the Democratic Party wouldn't know who our best candidate to win the election is if it came up and bit them in the ass!

If you don't like what's going on get to work...get in the process.
Continue the Revolution (it hasn't ended, by the way)...slow inexorable change from the ground up inside the system. Fundamental change is slow and painful but so worth the effort. Ask women how long they've waited to vote or LGBT how long it took to see their world change.
However, NO change will happen if He wins. No accelerated Revolution, there won't be time for even that.
A Russian style Czar in the white house shutting down all dissent with the help of the compliant press and his Oligarch Russian friends...a compliant and frankly scared Republican congress, a Judicial System filled with puppets...that can happen in 4 years.
If that is your true conviction I say buy a lot of shelf stable food for the bunker...

(22 posts)This appears to be total speculation. Polling does not show government corruption to be anywhere near the top of voters' priorities. Biden can win by appealing to suburban women, African-Americans, and independents who want a president with integrity. These ignorant "both sides are corrupt and nothing will change" voters are out there, but they're not gonna decide it. This whole argument sounds like Bernie woulda-coulda-shoulda-ism. But Bernie's big anti-corruption push did NOT generate a groundswell. Biden's "Just Plain Ol Joe" routine did.
