2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhy didn't Obama allow electors to be briefed on Russian interference in the election?
Since this "2016 Postmortem" forum is about to close down, I thought I'd throw this question out
It was Obama who said NO to the electors getting the briefing that 56 of them asked for, not Director of National Security, James Clapper.
If President Obama had wanted the electors to be given an Intelligence Briefing, they would have gotten it, and who knows what might have been the result?
If only 37 electors pledged to Trump had, after hearing the Intel briefing, changed their minds and voted for Hillary Clinton instead, SHE would be taking office tomorrow, not Twitler!

(20,999 posts)...I blame the rethuglican House and Senate leadership for shutting out the voters. Thank you Comrades Ryan and McConnell, especially Comrade McConnell, who will still do EVERYTHING HE CAN TO HAMPER AND HINDER ANY MEANINGFUL INVESTIGATION. Remember his wife has been nominated for a plum position on the Orange Anus' Cabinet. Comrade McConnell is a PRIME EXAMPLE of party and ideology over Country and Constitution.

(16,692 posts)I can't say he should, it sounds really awful. But he made a string of decisions that really undermined the party.
