2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe EC Votes Two Weeks From Today. Where Are We?
We are down to the last decent chance to stop Trump. The media could have stopped him a year ago, but he was good for rating$, so they didn't. The RNC could have stopped him, but they're craven...and they liked the hate he brought to the campaign trail. The electorate tried to stop him, but gerrymandering, voter suppression and possible vote manipulation made him president-elect, even as 2.6-million more voters cast their votes for Hillary than for the Orange Mussolini.
So, where are we, REALISTICALLY? Is there any chance the recounts will swing the election to Hillary? Is there any chance the EC will step up and perform their solemn duty and deny the presidency to an autocrat who has done nothing but affirm his depotic nature since being declared the winner? Or is the EC just going to shrug its Constitutional shoulders and join the media et al in declaring "there was nothing we could do to stop him?"
What are our chances?

(7,297 posts)...gerrymandering has zero effect on Presidential elections.
...voter suppression was definitely a problem, but there is no do-over
...Hillary's 2.6 million lead in the popular vote and $1.00 will get her a nice treat at the Dollar Store
...Wisconsin is ~42% done with the recount and Trump has netted about a 19 vote increase in his lead...without Wisconsin flipping, Trump will have at least 270 electoral votes
...should any of the Republican electors choose to go the faithless route, their votes will be rejected by Congress
So the chances right now stand at about .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%
