Either Trump is sane or this is Obama's Chamberlain moment

Maybe Trump is sane, and will simply operate as a sort of populist conservative, trying to help blue collar workers, breaking the Wall Street institutions that maintain the status quo, paying lip service to social conservatives, and talking tough on foreign policy, but not anxious to go to war. That's certainly how Obama is playing it.

But, maybe Trump has it in his head that we need to get rid of as many nonwhites as we legally can, form a coalition with Putin to take out Muslim countries, use extra-constitutional means to control the media and the people, and make our democratic elections into even more of a sham. If that's the case, then Obama will go down in history as an enabler who allowed a dangerous man to take center stage in the world. In my view, Obama should be speaking out against Trump, warning the nation that Trump threatens our security and our peaceful coexistence, that Trump represents a possible destabilizing force in the world.

Obama should be leading us, but instead he persuaded Hillary to concede quickly, is treating Trump with decency and respect, and is focused on the smooth transition of power. We used to say that Obama was a chess player, always a few moves ahead of the opposition, but given the state of the party he leads, his failure to solve the problem of an obstructionist Congress, and his kid glove approach to Trump, I think Obama has forgotten the game of chess. We can't trust him to protect us.

What a disappointment!
