"none of the above".

Last time I walked my ED, there were only 35 Democrats registered out of the 900 voters. And this is in a largely Democratic town, so there weren't many more Republicans. Most were "no party preference".

In spite of assholes like Trump and Palin, I really think the republicans have a reputation (undeserved, of course) among the populace of being more "reasonable". They have answers that better fit the presumptions of many. That populace hasn't yet caught up with the insanity of the ultra-right.

We have to get back to the idea that we are the better pothole fillers and school teachers.

a presidential election cycle.

Many of us just weren't excited about our choice and still did our job, but I didn't go out of my way to work in the campaign.

I voted for Hillary, but I wasn't going to waste my time volunteering for someone who I believed wasn't the answer to the big problems.

It seems in campaigns past that the attacks were on the candidates themselves. There was some of that in 2012, but I saw a lot of 'Hillary supporters', 'Bernie supporters', 'Trump supporters' insults.

It's probably always been there, I suppose, but since we can all literally interact with family and friends instantaneously, through Facebook and other social media. We don't talk WITH each other, we talk AT each other. At least that's what I see in my Facebook circles.

A lot of the people who don't vote, probably don't want to be type cast. So, they are just observers of the process. Mike Rowe had an article about encouraging people to vote. His suggestion was basically, if folks don't know squat about politics, maybe it's not a good idea to encourage them to vote.

Honestly, if people don't know the differences between the candidates, maybe it's better if they don't vote. Especially if they're voting based on what they've seen on reality TV.
