was among us. He sat with us and would bring his newspaper, printed in Chinese. He seldom said anything to us but when he did, it was direct and to the point, What I learned, he left his wife and came to the United States in the 1920's. He worked to save money and opened up a laundry business. He was not able to bring his wife over until after WW II. I believe that was because of the Exclusion Act.

Later, he bought commercial property in Summit. N.J. and it was worth over $1.5m.

They lived about 200 yards from the coffee shop. We were with Willie every morning but we never met or saw his wife. He said she would only leave the house to go with him to N.Y.C.'s Chinatown to meet friends in restaurants.

I still miss him.
