FORT BENNING, Ga. --

Over the years, there has been a rise in soldiers seeking to practice Buddhism. The first Buddhist Chaplain in Army history is serving right here in our area.

Chaplain Thomas Dyer says as the number of soldiers following the Buddhist religion grows, so has the need for the services. The battalion chaplain serves 600 soldiers of all faith groups. Chaplain Dyer says two key goals of the religion are to reduce suffering and increase well being.
