Taking the dive
I posted in this group on DU2 (I guess that's what it was). I have been on hiatus in posting for about four years. The reasons are many, but I never stopped reading - which was a terrific lifeline.
My husband has been in and out of our relationship so many times he needs to install a revolving door on our house. But no more.
Way too much stuff going on to post, but I will be weighing my options over the next few weeks.
Any advice you have would be so helpful right now. Thanks!

(23,156 posts)future is crucial.
Without knowing the details of your circumstance, which probably aren't anyone else's business anyway, I want to encourage you very strongly to look after your financial self-interest. I've known far too many women who say something like, "I just wanted to get out of the marriage and have it over with so I didn't care about a property settlement and I didn't even ask for anything for the kids." Do not do that. Make sure you get what is appropriate. Think of the long term, including any eventual pension share or Social Security from his side of that equation.

(28,966 posts)Very good advice. I was a woman who said I didn't need anything but custody. Struggled for a few years before my ex was killed and I started getting child support through social security survivor benefits. If my ex hadn't died, I probably wouldn't have gotten any money from him at all. Make sure that in saving yourself you remember that saving yourself is a life-long endeavor.
