New Jersey remains under an statewide state of emergency ahead of
another winter storm expected to drop 3 to 6 inches of snow across a wide area of the state on Friday.
Gov.
Phil Murphy issued a state of emergency last week before the major rainstorm that flooded parts of the Garden State. That state of emergency was not lifted following the storm, which caused flooding for days, and there is no need for new declaration, the governors office told NJ Advance Media on Thursday.
Murphy is scheduled to host a news conference about preparations for Fridays storm at 5 p.m. Thursday in Newark. You can
watch a livestream of the event here.
The
National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory from 4 a.m to 10 p.m. Friday for 15 of the states 21 counties. The area with higher snowfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches expanded in the latest forecast maps issued Thursday morning.
