Perfectly safe, river and creek won't catch me, and if branches come down, landlord's here to clean up (tomorrow.)

Winds WNW 14mph with gusts at 28mph.

I’m gobsmacked the power is still on here at the house. Usually it goes out if I sneeze too hard.

Maybe if the power goes out my work will open late tomorrow?

It’s been a loooong week.

An 83 ft pine tree took out a few other trees on its way to blocking the road.

This one started coming over during the wind storm before last, but got caught up in a fork of another tree. Last night's monsoon and today's high winds brought it the rest of the way down.

We've had 3 wind events that took down trees: Mar 3, Mar 25, Apr 1. I have a nice stack of logs, but I'd rather have trees!

Did have a few big branches down on path a few years ago, and hoping NOT the same again.

Power's on, and hoping it remains so; still 12 hours of winds forecast.

11. Had to clear yet another tree today

A big old red oak fell across the road sometime today. Just like all the others, its giant rootball pulled out of the soggy ground.

My son found it on his way back from fishing. It was suspended on the two high embankments over the 1-lane road, high enough for him to drive under it.

Didn't measure this one, but it was about 20 - 25 ft from base to the first fork. It was a puzzle to cut because of all the pressure at each end. The trunk was about 18 inches in diameter (I was using a battery chainsaw with a 16 inch bar) where I could get to it to cut. It cracked like crazy halfway through with the cut. I 'bout jumped out of my skin. It didn't do a complete barber-chair, but it was close enough.

The rootball was heavy enough that it lifted about 20 ft of the trunk off of the embankment. Had to cut it there in spite of all the pressure, just to get the bulk of the tree close enough to the road to finish clearing.

Had to use my tractor to drag the parts out of the road. Punctured a tire in the process.

I don't need any more tree clearing adventures.

Hope the winds were more favorable for you.

We have dandelions blooming. I know some folks think they're weeds, but I love 'em as much as crocuses. A crocus gives the first color of spring, here, and dandelions give a bright yellow splash in the new greenery -- winter is over.

I've been following it all day as it nailed Phila with tornado warnings for a few hours. The airport had 62 mph wind gusts.
