Powerhouse storm moves into US, prompting evacuations in California ahead of its trek east

https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/12/weather/california-mudslides-fire-tornado-snow-climate/index.html

Details at the link.

Winds seem to be peaking in the Sierra Foothills just now. I secured everything I could ahead of it. The last storm loosened the (amazing) gutter braces I had conjured up from StrongTie L-brackets. I did more this time.

Rain now, and snow tomorrow.

I put my carpentry skills to the test. A very unusual layout here, with gutters ending at both sides of the main window, and exposed to the wind somewhat from below, since I am on a ridge.

I capped the ends with 12 inch boards and secured everything the best I could.

Weather humbles us all. And others have it worse. I'm thankful I can do all this and for a sturdy ladder with arms to hold it very securely.

Everyone be safe and secure.
