I was managing a blood bank, when Hugo hit Columbia,S.C. 100 miles inland, as I drove home, the stop lights, were at a constant 90 degree angle. No gusts, just constant.
He was " a biggie"

I'll say this...I was really worried that this one would be ugly from a storm surge POV based on where it made landfall. It wasn't the wind, but how much water was wrung out once the storm hit the Blue Ridge and high foothills. Just crazy flooding. The really bad part is that very few of the flood victims likely had any sort of flood insurance. Just horrible.
