Russian hackers
Not that self-described crazy guy on YouTube, where safety is number one priority, but rather the DNC hackers.
According to a knuckleheaded coworker who still refers to our President only as Barack Hussein Obama, the Russian hack of the DNC email server was in fact a domestic job engineered in such a way as to make it look like a Russian attack.
"It's easy to make it look like it came out of Russia if you're clever about it," he observed from beneath his tinfoil cowl.
"Yeah," I said. "Especially if you're in Russia"
I also assured him that you can always recognize Russian hackers because they post selfies with bears, vodka and those big fur hats.

(10,420 posts)I think the vast majority of them are insane- terribly ignorant at the very least. There is no other explanation for the predicament we are now in.

(10,420 posts)The good people are losing in this country. Maybe Hillary can find a way to turn it around. I don't know.
The ignorance of many Americans regarding politics can probably be directly attributed to the amount of money right wing ultra rich people spend on the process. I think before we can make any progress on other issues we have to get money out of politics. Either that or convert the ultra rich people to the light side of the force.

(50,747 posts)You could take this guy to the FBI and have them show him the actual digital trail to the Russian hackers and it wouldn't make a difference. Because the FBI IS IN ON IT!!!11!!
He has a "fool" proof theory.

(64,105 posts)He would say: "FBI? Pfft."
Believe it or not, he's actually still mad about the government breaking up "Ma Bell" in the 80s. Way to carry a grudge!

(46,807 posts)Thanks mostly to the Internet.
In the 50's, before Sputnik, Isaac Asimov wrote an essay called "The Cult Of Ignorance," where he decried how the then popular media, (especially movies,) celebrated ignorance and denigrated intellectuals and science.
Today, it's the cult of stupidity, thanks mostly to talk radio and the Internet.
Faux "news" doesn't help either.

(64,105 posts)To Trump supporters, this has to be a ploy to implicate Russians because, if it's actual Russian hackers, then they'll have to reconcile their support of Trump and his campaign's collusion with a foreign power to undermine the Democratic candidate.
See? The whole thing was a plot intended to implicate Russian hackers and thereby to make Trump look bad.

(64,105 posts)My esteemed coworker is now my former esteemed coworker, because he's taken a job with another company.
As a result, I won't get to see his meltdown after election day. I feel cheated, especially because another coworker states that the guy was devastated when Obama won in 2008 and almost lost his mind over it in 2012.
Good times, good times.

(16,455 posts)You see, he's actually an agent of the Obama-administration and his job is to make Obama seem all-powerful by claiming that Obama is behind the russian hacks. But you saw right through him!!!
