This feels bizarre - the infamous Infowars wesbite links to my post to debunk something

via a GD thread (great, a newbie who links to the RW Infowars conspiracy theory website), I find that they have written an article that accepts 'Jonathan Lanza' was not Adam Lanza's uncle or cousin, but a hoaxer who claimed the killer was taking Fanapt, but nevertheless they feel sure he must have been on some drug anyway.

But they link to my post:

The reason for it being removed was likely the fact, as reported by Democratic Underground, that the claim that Lanza was on Fanapt was allegedly made not by Lanza’s real uncle, but by an Internet troll who reportedly inserts himself into every mass shooting story by posing as a family member of the killer.

It's good that they haven't gone down the "Big Pharma put pressure on Big Media" route, which at least one DUer has; but I still feel a bit soiled by being linked to by Infowars at all.

A lot of people made a lot of assumptions and jumped to a lot of conclusions without really knowing anything about Adam Lanza aside from his shooting a lot of little kids.

The focus turned to the gungeoneers and a few of them tried to scapegoat mentally ill folks. And, of course, everyone knew Lanza had paranoid psychotic schizoid manic clinical shityerpants schizophrenia. After all, only mentally ill people get incredibly angry.

Logic gave way to emotion in a lot of people here and they demanded some bloodletting of their own, figuratively speaking. This post is the most controversial thing I've said over the whole deal. Normally when people unfairly attack mentally ill people I'll be right in the fray if I know it's happening. All I could do was stand back and watch this time for the most part. I didn't feel like anything I was going to say would have made a difference...maybe that was wrong.

And without any evidence a lot of DUers were happy to jump on the bandwagon.

It is REALLY weird that Infowars has linked to you. Yikes!
I notice they said "as reported by Democratic Underground". I guess that makes you a reporter! Congratulations.

that if I'd been asked to nominate someone for the 'DU-er Most Likely to be Cited by Infowars' award, I don't think I'd have picked you!

Happy New Year, anyway!
