(11,407 posts)Then running off with tens of millions of dollars of his parishioners' savings. He would give the new investor's money to the old investor's so they thought they were making money on their investment. A ponzi scheme. Until the 2008 crash hit.....
No more new investors and no more profits for older investors.
Anyway, he ran off with all the money and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Never trust religious people they think a magical god is on their side and may do anything.
It was on the series The Con narrated by Whoopi Goldberg. They could probably do a whole series just on religious scams.
