NY Times: Trump Lawyer Asks to Pause Impeachment Trial if It Runs Into SabbathIn a letter obtained by The New York Times, the lawyer, David Schoen, asked that the trial be suspended if it was not finished by the beginning of the Sabbath at 5:24 p.m. on Friday, and that it not reconvene until Sunday.
My only comment is that this is interesting. The Jewish Sabbath is based upon the Genesis creation tale that God created everything in 6 days and rested on the 7th day, which is Saturday, the last day of the week. (Check any calendar.)
Christians, aside from Seventh-day Adventists, regard Sunday as the Sabbath because it's allegedly the day of the Resurrection.
The interesting part of all this is that the Jewish lawyer wants the trial to pause during the Jewish Sabbath but reconvene on the Christian Sabbath.

(22,991 posts)So, Schoen wants to suspend the trial from sundown Friday until sundown Saturday yet he doesn't care about the Christians who revere Sunday as their holy day? I'm an atheist and I find this ridiculous!
Fuck you, Schoen. Shove your religion up your ass. This government is not based on your or any other religion.
Show up in court when you're supposed to or concede your case. Keep religion out of it.
Loser.
Contemptible hypocrite.
Idiot.

Tell the attorney that they will be happy to excuse him in time to get home for his sabbath, but the trial is a secular matter and will continue.
Unto Caesar what is Caesar's. Render unto God what is God's.
I know wrong book for Mr. Schoen, but even Jesus knew religion and politics do not mix.
