Ark Encounter, which unveiled the 510-foot-long model in 2016, says that heavy rains in 2017 and 2018 caused a landslide on its access road, and its five insurance carriers refused to cover nearly $1 million in damages.
I don't think I can laugh any harder without fracturing a rib.

(15,631 posts)Is looking pretty weathered. It's like Ham didn't want to pay for maybe... $20K? for the Thompson Water Seal and the labor to coat it every five years.
Also, wouldn't it be great if their insurance didn't cover, "Acts of God?"

Maybe they can just pray away the damage?

(15,805 posts)a way to profit off the landslide and flood as their newest amusement park attraction demonstrating the awesomeness of their mighty gawd.
Surely ticket sales would go through the roof as visitors came to see little green plastic dinosaurs floating in the muddy waters and hobnobbing with plaster figurines left over from the annual nativity scene.

They could have a coin operated laundromat, too.

(51,166 posts)There are two cases for "its" and the apostrophe does not come after.
1) "it's": the contraction for "it is".
2) "its": the contraction for possession. I remember this by saying to myself that the 's' is closer to the 'it'. The newspaper article got it right.
There are two situations, not related to "it's" where the apostrophe comes after.
A) Where the possessing noun is plural. Ex.: "The companies' industry sector failed."
B) Where the noun ends in 's'. Ex.: "Jesus' socialism does not have Republican approval."
Neither of those apply to the OP.

(12,132 posts)I coulda swore I remembered possession its being ok either way - with or without the apostrophe.
Then again, at christian school they always screw up possession.
But at least I never misuse "it is". It's easy to get right.
