Matt Dilahunty had a great line while talking about the upcoming Atheist convention:
"Greta Christina and I are going to get a couple of hair dryers and unbaptized some people there."
Prior to the first call Don Baker runs down the current whereabouts of some of the shadier xtian leaders of days gone by

incantations with a hair dryer...

(5,376 posts)A lifelong "born-again believer", I am now an atheist, wondering what took me so long to make the switch. Listening to AE has definitely helped with the transition. I love Matt, Tracie, Jen, Don, the whole group. The more I've listened, the more ridiculous the "christian" callers sound, Amazed at how little they know about the bible they claim to embrace as the source of their faith. A real head-shaker for me, though not too surprising.
I watched this episode, didn't get through the whole thing, so thanks again for your post. Nice to have a fellow AE fan on DU.

(63,269 posts)I am now on year 2012. Some of the very early hosts like Jeff Dee and Martin Wagner are really good. Jeff Dee really says what is on his mind.
When I listen I realize that most people learned what little they know of the bible through a kind of game of telephone - somebody told somebody told somebody on and on and the message has been so convoluted that when they try to tell it it makes no sense.
Keep enjoying them.
Wanted to add, my favorite is Tracie. Whereas Matt is really into the philosophy, Tracie is very practical and really understands how practicing or not practicing region affects people lives.

(11,525 posts)I feel like my day isn't complete until I've heard Matt Dilahunty shut up some crazy theist.
I think it was listening to him that finally made me come out of my religious closet.
I have to say I was a little surprised at how very little evidence for god and jesus there really was.

(63,269 posts)sometimes Matt will get off a great line when I am huffing and puffing and I have to stop.
A couple of hosts I really like from the way back are Jeff Dee and Martin Wagner.
Keep enjoying them. Sure would like to get down there and see a show in person, but barring a miracle ( ) that will never happen.

I think I'll drop in to that Freethought Library next time I'm in Austin. Maybe even be "on the other side of the glass" for a show.
