FYI, there's a pretty good movie about the United Kingdom's official executioner back then, Albert Pierrepoint. Title is "Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman." He performed the last hanging in the Irish state, of Michael Manning in April 1954.

And at least the illustrator got the aircraft pretty much right, a Lockheed Constellation. Though our hero must have been very privileged, since air travel was too expensive for most people in the 1950s:

Timothy Spall seems to get some unusual roles. Like his portrayal of Mr. Turner.

I like being picked up from the airport ion a 19th century buggy
Also that Priest has some pretty powerful magic, burns the Witch with just a bible and a wave of his finger.
