The Doomsday Ideology of ISIS

But this has NOTHING TO DO WITH RELIGION! So stop saying that!

The doomsday ideology of ISIS

The terror group’s apocalyptic vision is a powerful recruiting pitch

By Liz Goodwin - 3 hours ago - Yahoo News

In a boastful press release after the Paris attacks that left 130 dead earlier in the month, ISIS celebrated its “victory” over the city it called the “lead carrier of the cross.”

“Allah granted victory upon their hands and cast terror into the hearts of the crusaders in their very own homeland,” the group wrote.

The medieval language is a glimpse into the terror group’s little-discussed apocalyptic ideology, one that draws on prophecies written after Muhammad’s death that were used to motivate Muslims to battle by caliphs who lived more than a thousand years ago. While al-Qaida occasionally hinted at these doomsday writings foretelling a grand battle with infidels at the end of the world, ISIS has made them the bedrock of its brand...

ISIS leadership has made key military decisions based upon these prophecies. It fought in the summer of 2014 to take over the small and militarily unimportant village of Dabiq close to Turkey because it is name-checked in one of the prophecies as a place where the final great battles will occur. The infidels are supposed to gather under “80 flags” in this village, before their defeat. (Dabiq is also the name of ISIS’ monthly magazine.)

ISIS’ claim that the apocalypse is nigh is a powerful recruitment tool, not unlike an “Act now! 24 hours only!” sales pitch.

Xian preachers have been using the "Act now! 24 hours only!" sales pitch for centuries themselves. I grew up having that pounded into my head - "Jesus might come back in the middle of the night and if you haven't been baptized, you could go straight to Hell!" But again, nothing to do with religion here, so just move along.

Few religions embrace non believers and waiting for them to burn in hell for all eternity isn't good enough. True believers must rid the world of these infidels. Six million plus undesirables, and non Christians were slaughtered by the very Christian Nazi party, with the blessing of too many Christian leaders, all for real Christianity.

"national socialism neither opposes the church nor is it anti religious, but on the contrary it stands on the ground of a real Christianity. For their interests cannot fail to coincide with ours alike in our fight against the symptoms of degeneracy in the world of today, in our fight against a Bolshevist culture, against atheistic movement, against criminality, and in our struggle for a consciousness of a community in our national life. These are not anti Christian, these are Christian principles and I believe that if we should fail to follow these principles then we should be able to point to our successes, for the result of our political battle is surely not unblest by God."

Adolf Hitler speech at Koblenz, to the Germans of the Saar, Aug 26, 1934.

So religions have concocted a tale of eternal fire for non believers, but, since the true believers never get to watch us burn, they are hell bent to see us die, the only real satisfaction they can get for their twisted sense of punishment. And yet, we're supposed to believe in some kind of "intelligent" design. There's no intelligence at work here, just relentless propaganda, violence and death.

These psychos were made for each other. It would be funny except they're a threat to take the rest of us with them.

Stuff written after Mohammed's death is in the hadiths, not the Koran. The hadiths, "sayings of the Prophet," are supposed to be quotes from Mohammed with a direct chain of evidence leading back to Mohammed and the original author of the hadith.

And if you believe that, you may also believe that I'm in Paradise preparing 144 virgins for us right now.

Being able to show a direct linkage back to Mohammed is hugely prestigious in Islam. So it's not surprising that by the 10th century, just a couple hundred years after the religion was invented, the hadiths had already turned into a giant headache. Many were obvious forgeries inserted to benefit specific families or push political agendas. So just like the Xian Bible, the hadiths had to be gone thru and "purified." Which didn't work for very long, like all such projects.

Today, some Muslims believe all hadiths are as sacred as the Koran. Others believe they're all unnecessary additions to the original Word Of Allah and should be junked. And many Muslims, again, treat the hadiths exactly the same way Xians treat the Bible - they pick and choose which hadiths are "authentic," based on their own ideas and prejudices.

For the 1.5 people out there who may be interested, the Hanafi collection is considered one of the most authoritative hadith compilations.

cut their lives short to meet their mythical maker and "dwell in Heaven" blah blah blah (insert your societal's version of heaven here), instead of staying on Earth and enjoying this beautiful, sorta-magical world and all the wonderful things and possibilities that this good Earth provides.

That is really fucking sad.

But no, of course ISIS has nothing at all to do with religion.
