Related: About this forumChristians are leading the charge to deny help to Syrian refugees
November 17, 2015 by Dan Arel
There is a funny thing that the #AllLivesMatter and Pro-Life movements have in common, they both refuse to help Syrian refugees in serious need of life-saving asylum.
What else do they have in common? They are both overwhelmingly Christian movements. Because if its racist and hypocritical in the United States, you can bet your bottom dollar its a Christian movement.
The All Lives Matter movement is nothing short of a white supremacist movement that spawned in response to the #BlackLivesMatter, fighting to claim that we should not be focused on only black lives, but all lives, ignoring that caring about the systematic slaughter and oppression of a particular race should and does require special attention. The lovechild of All Lives Matter is, of course, Blue Lives Matter, another white supremacist movement that attempts to equate police deaths to those of black men and women around the country.
Prolifers, on the other hand, only care about fetuses. This movement is generally filled with right-wing conservatives who oppose welfare for the poor, support the death penalty, support the endless war on terror and other systems of killing that take more lives every day than abortion does in a week.
Syrian refugees are fleeing a country torn apart and becoming increasingly dangerous as ISIS furthers its control of the country slaughtering men and women by the thousands.
...
The truth is, of course, both Christian and Islamic terrorist groups exist, but the Christian right cares very little about the truth. They care about creating a culture of fear, because when youre the GOP, fear equals votes.
...
These are the new breed of American terrorists, using fear and public policy to make sure the nation remains the white, Christian utopia they believe it to be.

(57,349 posts)I don't associate them with atheism, just assholism.
On the other hand I do associate the KKK and Stormfront with Christianity.
The author has a point, the Christian right is full of xenophobic racists.

(7,886 posts)just bringing it up cause it's gonna come up at some point. The obvious rebuttal that they don't do anything in the name of no god will, of course, fall on deaf ears.

(57,349 posts)They keep using that canard even though atheism has nothing to do with GG.

Atheist who does something bad for no reason related to atheism = doing it because of their atheism
Religious logic - gotta love it.

It is a good piece, someone had to say it and he said it well.

(9,356 posts)Some of those refugees were forced out of their homes by ISIS and were victims of their atrocities. They will want payback and can be tremendous assets in helping fight them.
Or we could just send out a bunch of tall muscular American "operators" speaking pidgin Arabic to infiltrate ISIS. That'll probably work.

(17,505 posts)Those 3 religions (really sects from the same source) fighting each other while worshiping the same supposedly one and only god. Never concentrating of their similarities, but only on differences....usually not even found in the original texts.
I think all those centuries of theological baloney, volumes and volumes of it, are just to try to make, vague, and obsolete ancient guesses viable in whatever time frame and place came after.
Religion is just ancient government.... power and control. None of them can agree, even within their own sects.
Religion is ridiculous.
