The headline on the News Nerd was almost too good to be true: American Psychological Association to Classify Belief in God As a Mental Illness. A study, the story beneath it read, had led the APA to conclude that a strong and passionate belief in a deity or higher power, to the point where it impairs ones ability to make conscientious decisions about common sense matters, will now be classified as a mental illness.

(113,131 posts)back in the bad old days of state mental hospitals, that anyone getting messages from god was sent to the crazy house for some medication and a rest to stop the voices and disabuse one of the idea that those voices were anything but hallucination.
First thing I learned when I worked there was that there's no crazy like god crazy.
Now the Republicans put them into high office.
Scalia's been showing signs of organic brain syndrome for a decade. He's not going to get any better. He's likely to get far worse. The sad thing is how few people will notice.
