1. All good as usual,

but never felt as strongly right out of the gate as I did for #4 here!

2. I went with "Jesus vs. Horus"

because I have never heard all those things, and it made me go "hmmmmm".

4. Not all that Horus

stuff is considered accurate though....

Isis wasn't a virgin she was married to Osiris who was chopped into 14 pieces and Isis put him back together, although she couldn't find his penis so she made him a golden penis and then consummated her relationship with her Frankenstein creation and Horus was the result...not quite the same as an immaculate conception...also the 12 disciples was more like 16 guys and some blacksmiths that were more of an entourage...it all sort of depends on which Horus experts you read...

In the end for me the most amazing similarity is that two equally incredible origination stories were accepted by the masses as reality, it sort of speaks to the overall lack of analytical skepticism that one would hope to be inherent in human nature.

5. So not all is considered accurate, but most of it is?

It seems to me that this is like the Great Flood, where almost all religions have a version of it. It tells me that one religion seems to steal the good stuff from a preceding religion. This always brings me back to the first questions that I had about religion---which one is the true one?

these origin stories are all so very entertaining, the best part of course being each religion believes their own fanciful tale while quickly dismissing all the others as made up nonsense...

8. Egypt converted to Xianity early.

Some experts say that's because many Xian beliefs had parallels in the ancient Egyptian religion - a resurrected god-man, eternal life in paradise, etc. Even the Egyptian symbol of eternal life, the ankh, resembled a Xian cross.

When I lived in Alexandria I loved to visit the Graeco-Roman Museum. It had a dead body on display, of a person who really hedged their bets on eternal life. The body was wrapped/mummified, indicating a belief in ancient Egyptian religion. But the mummy wrappings were painted with Xian crosses.

The Museum also had a huge statue of Marcus Aurelius in armor. Some ancient Xian vandals, I guess, had hacked the imperial Roman eagle off his belt-plate and carved a Xian cross into it. But they didn't touch the awesome Medusa decorating his chest armor.

I listen more often than I speak. And often when I speak in real life it is to ask questions.

I learn a lot that way. I bet it's true of many skeptics.
