Backpacker Eleanor Hawkins "very sorry" for stripping naked on sacred mountain

A British backpacker arrested in Malaysia for posing naked on top of a sacred mountain "is very sorry for the offence that she has caused".

Eleanor Hawkins, 23, was amongst four tourists arrested by Malaysian police investigating pictures showing 10 Westerners stripping off on the 4,000 metre tall Mount Kinabalu on May 30.

Six days later, the country saw one of the biggest earthquakes in decades kill at least 16 people and many locals and politicians believe it was caused by the nude climbers 'offending the mountain god'.
