Mayor Will Rogers led a city council meeting on Monday to hear opinions on the presence of the 18-foot-sign after the Freedom From Religion Foundation requested the sign be moved off city property, television station KLTV reported.
....
Rogers said he didnt believe the sign violated the Constitution because Jesus was a public figure, KLTV reported.
What violation is it for someone to welcome you into a town, Rogers told the station. If you dont believe that Jesus existed, then he would be fiction. If hes fiction, and you want to remove his name from everything then you need to remove every fiction name that there is across the country.
That means we couldnt say Superman welcomes you to town, Rogers continued.
Rogers said the sign isnt officially on the city councils agenda, so no action can be taken despite the public meeting, KLTV reported. According to the station, before anything is decided, a survey will be conducted to determine whether the sign is actually on city property.

I predict they'll take the path of Middleborough, MA that voted to give the public land that a large cross was built on to a local church rather than tear it down.

I can only assume that he is thinking that the religion of Christianity is not a religion, but that Baptists are one religion and Methodists are another. I am sure that to him, Catholics are definitely not in the same religion as he is.

I don't know if you will be able to see it or not. If not, I'm sorry. Will see if I can "fix" that. I believe the quote noted in the OP could be taken from this exchange.
