Atheists & Agnostics
Related: About this forumNew to DU and to A&A--Introducing myself
Hello everyone. I am William King and I live in the state of Georgia, born and raised. I just recently joined DU and have posted some threads already and participated in a few discussions. I have been an atheist since my early 20s; label myself a Secular Humanist and anti-dominionist. Looking forward to reading, participating in, and starting a few discussions. Cheers everyone.

(113,131 posts)I know, having been an atheist in NC. I was a kid, so as soon as I had saved enough money, I fled and landed in Boston, where atheists are plentiful.
So welcome, we're only contentious when somebody tries to tell us how we think. You can pick up your rubber chicken and colander hat in the lobby.

(30,947 posts)I know what it is like living in a state with a church on practically every few blocks. I just do not advertise my religious non-belief.
William King
(42 posts)well met. I respect that, I know it is scary in this sea of religion. I am quite outspoken myself, because I am not intimidated and just don't give a damn. Got some nice bumper stickers on my car. Guess it is the small bit of Irish and Cherokee in me.

(9,356 posts)Damn, there are more Southern atheists than I thought on DU! And I'm really happy to see them!
I just moved back here to Jesusland after many years in the other SC - Southern California. Mostly in Los Angeles. So I'm having to make some MAJOR adjustments. "Thanks, and a BLESSED fucking day to you too..."
Here's my Standard Greeting for all newcomers:
"Oh, you cant help that," said the Cat. "Were all mad here. Im mad. Youre mad."
"How do you know Im mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldnt have come here.
