Wait.

But if I could *be* a god. I'd be Dionysus.

Very good point.

Though I do think society's opinion of women has greatly increased from what I understand it to be back then.

But she preferred diplomacy, unlike Abraham's tyrannical deity who prefers to sort after.

Ma'at, ancient Egyptian goddess of truth, order, law and justice.

When you croaked, your heart was weighed in a scale against a feather from her wing. If your heart outweighed the feather, you got introduced to her nasty little sidekick, Ammut The Soul-Eater. A critter with the head of a crocodile, body of a hippo and butt of a lion. Ammut ate your heart first, then the rest of you. And you did not get to attend the big Afterlife cocktail party hosted by Isis and Osiris.

Today when an Egyptian Mom is feeding her baby, she will say "mut-mut-mut!" IOW, "Eat up, kid!" A direct reference to Ammut. Or at least I was told that by Actual Egyptians:

But I've always been partial to Artemis, the protector of women and Zeus help you if you piss her off.
