Off to a good start

I have just begun John Cleese's autobiography. He never hesitates to knock religion. By page 66 he's already fired a few volleys. Then he writes this:

Yes, I know it's easy to make fun of the organised churches, but has it occurred to anyone to wonder why it's so easy?
