Openly Secular Day

I've taken the Openly Secular pledge to tell one person that I'm atheist on April 23, Openly Secular Day. In my own case I'll have a hard time finding someone who doesn't already know that I'm "out," but I'm going to try. I have nothing but sympathy for those who think it's still too much of a personal risk, but I believe this organization is helping.

Here's the link to the home page for others who might be interested. http://www.openlysecular.org/

I'll have to think about it, last time someone asked I told them I was a freethinker. This person despises atheists, good thing they weren't curious enough to google it.

where various theists decide that there is nothing worth asking an atheist about atheism, (although of course at least one such theist here appears to be obsessed with atheism, posting about the subject at least once a day,) and as for anything else to discuss, it seems atheists are mostly "warmongers and bigots".

Oddly enough it does appear most of those doing the killing these days subscribe to one form of deity worship or another...

I am not aware of anyone openly claiming that atheists are shooting abortion doctors, or the dreaded non-believers are lopping off heads and stealing schoolgirls en masse as hostages or child brides...

Christianity lately seems to be about this:

While Islam has this going for it:

But we non-believers are the bigots...it's an amazing turn of words when you consider it.

To any potential jurors, this comment was made in the Atheist safe haven, where atheists often express their distaste and dislike for any religion. It doesn't make anyone a bigot it just makes them non-believers.
Religion is slavery for me as a non-believer, a form of a slavery of the mind, if someone is offended by words that run counter to their religious views the Atheist Forum Safe Haven isn't for them and they should probably not be alerting on such things.

Thank you for your consideration.

I just wrote in my status "Happy Openly Secular Day! Love, your favorite atheist" and linked the opensecular.org site.

I can't imagine everyone didn't know it already too but there might be a few casual acquaintances and/or newly facebooked friends who don't know me in real life. We'll see how it goes...

lol, within 3 seconds of posting I got "STOP FORCING YOUR AGENDA ON ME!" but it was an old, long-time friend who was joking.
