One hundred years ago, a solar eclipse line of totality cut through NYC.

January 24, 1925, scientists set up cameras and other equipment in northern New York City in order to observe the precise line on earth which separated observing the total eclipse from the partial eclipse. The newspapers alerted the public to the rare phenomenon. On some streets, observers on one side could see a full eclipse, whereas observers on the other side saw a partial eclipse.

I hope to be able to visit Egypt in 2027 for a total solar eclipse. It will have a totality that will last 6 minutes. Rather longer than most!
