The crisis in physics is real: Science is failing

If you need a break from election news . . .

I’ve seen this expressed with increasing frequency. Physics is in need of breakthrough paradigm shift.

Agreed. I read it in my early 20s. Loved it! Gaugamela Nov 2024 #6

Break out the 'i' in election and slip in an 'r' giving you "electron", which is physics (and chemistry).

But, quantum theory came about because of Rutherford's gold foil experiments that pretty much demonstrated that the plum pudding model of atomic structure was wrong and gave some indication of the possible structure of the atom.

Newton's theory of gravity survived for over 200 years, even though there were some problems - at least the orbit of Mercury was known not to fit the theory.

Ptolemy's theory survived for something like 1500 years.

As physicists probe farther and farther into their current theories, something may come out that points in a new direction.

I don't know enough about physics to disagree with her. But her argument, as presented in the video, didn't convince me that she is right.
