An Electromagnetic Vortex Cannon, Finally!

7:10

Researchers say they’ve found a way to create a freely propagating vortex ring, like a smoke ring, but with electromagnetic waves. Why does this even matter? What might this discovery be used for? Let’s take a look.

... background to work it out. Now I have a reference, of sorts.

The emphasis in the video is on low-power communications applications, but with higher power, it becomes an obvious candidate for anti-missile etc. weapons; I'm sure the MIC is hard at work on that. If they can make it small enough for a man-launchable missile, it could have the effect of an EMP without the need for a nuclear explosion, disabling most battlefield electronics, especially coms and GPS.

Every sword has two edges, indeed.
